Where?

There on the ledge.

It looks like an owl..no not just one but three..

Sometimes you want to do some crafting while traveling by car (as a passenger) or train. A project that's heavy or takes a lot of space isn't really suitable. The jacket that I told you about in my last entry is such a project. I had to think of something else and that's not a problem because I have a long-to do list-. To my opinion crochet is ideal to do while traveling. A small crochet project only takes a hook and a small amount of yarn. So I did.. I took some yellow yarn and a crochet hook and made the pieces for a yellow owl. Back at home I put him together and I liked him so much that I made him some friends! The pattern is from a Japanese crochet book... and no I don't know any Japanese. The great thing of this kind of Japanese craft books is that it has a lot of pictures and the pattern is written down as a chart (graphical representation of pattern) so theoretically you don't need to know any Japanese. It is helpfull however if you know some characters. On the site of my little mochi you find a document with an english translation of some Japanese characters that have to do with stuffed animal making. I am very grateful to her.

Het lijkt wel een uil... nee niet één maar drie..

Soms wil je tijdens een auto- of treinreis handwerken. Een zwaar of groot projekt is dan uiteraard niet handig. Het vest uit mijn vorige stukje is zo'n projekt. Ik moest dus iets anders verzinnen en dat is geen probleem aangezien ik een hele lijst van -wil ik nog maken dingen- heb. Haken is naar mijn mening ideaal om op reis te doen. Voor een klein haakproject heb je alleen maar een haaknaald en wat garen nodig. Ik ging op weg met mijn haaknaald en wat geel garen. Weer thuis heb ik de uil in elkaar gezet en ik vond hem zo leuk dat ik hem nog wat vriendjes heb gemaakt. Het patroon komt uit een Japans haakboek.. en nee ik kan geen Japans. Het leuke van dit soort Japanse handwerkboeken is namelijk dat er heel veel plaatjes in staan en de patronen zijn grafisch weergegeven. Je hoeft dus geen Japans te kunnen. Het is wel handig om te weten wat enkele Japanse karakters betekenen. Op de website van my little mochi staat een document met een engelse vertaling van enkele Japanse tekens die te maken hebben met het maken van knuffels. Bedankt my little mochi!
