Danish heather shawl and edgings

It has been a while. …  I have been busy with a variety of crafty things. A lot to tell but I ‘ll start with the Danisch heather shawl ( info about pattern and yarn: see entry march 5)

The Danish heather shawl is finished and I love the result.  I like the colours and how they change from purple into blue into black and  then into purple again. The edging of the shawl is crocheted. It was rather slow going because you work with two chains that you twist around each other. The colours of my shawl are too dark for a good picture of the edge but in the picture in this blog you can see it properly. I never did this kind of edging but I definetly will use it again. It is easy to do and gives a neat edge.

 

 

Talking about edgings. There’s another edging that I did for the first time: the I cord bind off. I am enthusiastic about that one too. More on this project later..

 

 

Deense heidesjaal

Het is alweer een tijdje geleden… Ik ben druk geweest en tussendoor ook met allerlei creatieve dingen. Veel te vertellen maar ik zal beginnen met de Deense heidesjaal ( meer info over patroon en garen: zie entry 5 maart)

De Deense heidesjaal is af en ik ben blij met het resultaat. Het kleurverloop is erg mooi van paars via blauw naar zwart en dan weer naar paars. De hele sjaal heeft een gehaakt randje als afwerking gekregen. Dat randje kostte behoorlijk wat tijd omdat  je met twee kettingen werkt die je om elkaar heen draait. De kleuren van mijn sjaal zijn te donker voor een duidelijke foto hiervan maar op de foto in deze blog kun je goed zien hoe het eruit ziet. Ik had deze afwerking nooit eerder gedaan maar deze is zeker voor herhaling vatbaar. Het is makkelijk om de doen en geeft een mooie afwerking.

Nu we het toch over randjes hebben. Ik heb nog een nieuwe afwerking gedaan die ik nooit eerder deed namelijk the 'I cord bind off'. Die zie je op het fotootje hierboven. Hier ben ik ook erg enthousiast over. Meer over dit project later.
