Time flies.. it has been over a week since I last posted.
First I want to show you one more picture of Laminaria.
About the crocheting I started: a new blanket.
The pattern is from the book ‘50 sensational crochet afghans and throws’
A collection of beautiful patterns. The stained glass window afghan, that you can see on the cover of the book, is one of my favourites.
I wasn’t allowed to buy new yarn but challenged myself to be creative and use yarn from my stash. I found 4 balls dark pink, 5 balls light pink, 5 balls cobalt blue and 3 balls white and 3 balls dark blue. That could do, but not for the stained glass window afghan.
The spanish tiles afghan could maybe work with these colors though it wouldn’t look mediteranean anymore.
I made some samples with different size needles to see how the color combination would work and what needle would work best. I also did some calculation whether I would have enough yarn.
I wasn’t over enthousiastic but chose the second combination. I thought that might work and put the yarn and the crochet hook in my suitcase to Sweden.
I did a lot of crocheting during the holiday. When I came back this was the result:see below.

Vakantie deken
Tijd vliegt voorbij.. het is alweer meer dan een week geleden sinds ik mijn laatste post plaatste.
Allereerst nog een foto van Laminaria.
Dan over het haken. Ik ben met een nieuw dekentje begonnen.
Het patroon komt uit het boek ’50 sensational crochet afghans and throws’
Het is een collectie van prachtige patronen. De glas in lood deken die je ziet op de voorkant van het boek is een van mijn favorieten.
Ik mocht van mezelf geen nieuw garen kopen maar daagde mezelf uit om creatief te zijn en garen van mijn eigen verzameling te gebruiken. Nu bestaat mijn verzameling vooral uit bollen en strengen waar ik er maar 1 of 2 van heb. Gelukkig vond ik in mijn verzameling katoen 4 bolletjes donkerroze, 5 lichtroze, 5 cobalt blauw, 3 donkerblauw en 3 wit. Dat zou voldoende kunnen zijn maar niet geschikt voor de glas in lood deken.
Het Spaanse tegel patroon zou kunnen met deze kleuren hoewel je dan niet meer van een Mediterane sfeer kunt spreken.
Ik heb wat voorbeelden gemaakt van verschillende combinaties en met verschillende maten haaknaald. Ook wat rekenwerk verricht om de benodigde hoeveelheid garen te bepalen.
Ik was in eerste instantie niet super enthousiast maar koos de tweede combinatie. Dit leek me wel geschikt en ik nam het garen en de haaknaald mee naar Zweden.
Veel gehaakt gedurende de vakantie en dit was het resultaat bij thuiskomst.
Nog maar 1 rij te gaan.... en heel veel naaiwerk..
